Yesterday marked 26 weeks of pregnancy for us (“us” being Bonnie, Andrew, and me.) I am thrilled and a little shocked at what an easy, uneventful pregnancy this has been so far. I am truly loving every moment of it. I just love being pregnant. It’s amazing how much happiness and purpose Bonnie has already added to my life… and she’s not even here yet!
I called my insurance company this week (I can check that off my list now) and learned that my policy does not cover breast pumps. I was not surprised at all, but I was hoping they might at least pitch in. Per the recommendation of a trusted friend, I thought I’d decided on this pump. But once my mom and I got to Target, I actually ended up getting a smaller, cheaper one. I feel good about our selection though, and I’m so glad I had my mom with me to help. I would have been so overwhelmed making that decision alone.
Another thing I can check of my pre-baby checklist is getting pre-registered with the hospital. I called them a few days ago, and the woman kindly informed me that I called the first week of February to take care of pre-registration. Guess I had just forgotten! That’s happening a lot these days…
How far along? 26 weeks
Total weight gain? I do not even want to know at this point. It seems like I’ve grown A LOT over the past two weeks.
Maternity clothes? Yes, most of the time.
Stretch marks? Nothing new.
Sleep: I once heard this myth that the constant peeing during the night stops during the second trimester. I’m here to tell you that’s just not true. Apart from that, I also had insomnia a couple nights throughout the week. I think it’s partly due to how excited I get when I lie in bed thinking about Bonnie, and partly due to the fact that our dog Biscuit is a pillow hog. I guess what I’m saying is that I have not slept well this week!
Best moment this week: Visiting with my mom over the weekend.
Miss anything? I am very content, but I am missing sleeping well at night.
Movement: She is moving more and more all the time! Sometimes I feel like she is gonna kick her way through my tummy. If you look really closely, you can even see her move through my shirt. SO NEAT!
Food cravings: My fresh guacamole craving kicked back in this week. I made some on Thursday night, and it hit the spot.
Anything making you feel queasy or sick: Nothing specific, but I have noticed that if I let myself get super hungry before eating, I start to feel a little nauseated. I try to pack snacks with me everywhere I go… for blood sugar emergencies and whatnot.
Showing? Yes, yes, yes! People have starting rubbing/patting my belly now. At first it made me a little uncomfortable, but I’m learning to embrace it now. (:
Labor signs: Nope.
Symptoms: I think my ankles are starting to get a little swollen-looking off and on.
Belly button in or out? In.
Wedding ring on or off? On.
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy! I’m thrilled with how quickly the last few weeks of this pregnancy have gone, and I cannot wait to meet Bonnie!
Looking forward to: Andrew having some time off. He has a week-long break coming up, and I am so ready to get to spend lots of quality time with him.
What’s Going on with Baby:
- She is almost two pounds… that’s only one pound less than Ladybug (our chihuahua I mentioned yesterday.)
- All five of Bonnie’s senses are fully developed… Woo hoo!!!
- Her eyes are starting to open this week.
- Her brain is also more developed and sophisticated.
