This week has been a super-exciting week. We found out our baby’s gender through blood work. The perinatal specialist I saw at 12.5 weeks offered me the option of finding out the gender since we were doing other testing anyway. Since I thought it would be really neat to be able to announce the gender to our family in person (during our Christmas visits with them) I took him up on his offer. And I am SO GLAD I did. I thought I was excited before, but knowing the gender adds to my excitement even more.
We were with Andrew’s family on Christmas day, and with my family the day after. We announced the gender to Andrew’s family by giving his mom a framed picture of the ultrasound with our baby’s name on it.
The day after Christmas when we saw my family, we announced the gender by giving my mom the same framed picture that we gave Andrew’s mom. But I gave my dad a little onesie with our baby’s name on it, since he gave me a onesie last time I saw him.
How far along? 15 weeks
Total weight gain? I don’t have an exact number, but I definitely feel like I’ve gained weight since finding out we are pregnant.
Maternity clothes? Not yet. I did buy a Belly Band this week, because I can tell that my jeans are getting tighter.
Stretch marks? No.
Sleep: Still waking up 3 or 4 times during the night to go to the bathroom, but other than that, I’ve been sleeping great.
Best moment this week: Seeing my parents’ reactions when we surprised them by announcing our baby’s gender during our visit with them over Christmas.
Miss anything? Just my energy, but I’d gladly trade it for this any day.
Movement: Not yet… but I’m so excited for when I can finally feel our baby move!
Food cravings: None… finally!
Anything making you feel queasy or sick: No, not really.
Showing? I say definitely. Andrew still says not really. It seems like my tummy started popping out over night, literally. One day was pretty flat, and then the next day, there was a bump!
Gender: It’s a GIRL!!!
Labor signs: No.
Symptoms: My face is breaking out some, which is unusual.
Belly button in or out? In.
Wedding ring on or off? On.
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy, happy, happy, although I do seem a bit hyper-emotional these days.
Looking forward to: Getting to feel her move for the first time.
What’s Going on With Baby:
- Her arms are finally proportionate to the rest of her body… but her legs still have some lengthening to do.
- She has started breathing amniotic fluid in through her nose and respiratory tract.
- She can sense light and pressure from outside the womb… how cool!!!
- Bonnie is about 4 inches long, and weighs 2.5 ounces.
- She can move ALL her joints and limbs.
(This picture is from Bonnie’s 12.5 week ultrasound, so I’m sure she is much bigger now, but we won’t have another ultrasound for several more weeks.)
