This week’s post is exciting, because when I was pregnant with Bonnie, my 38 week update was the last one I wrote before she came! I’m hoping this girl will decide to arrive this week as well.
After a refreshing, long weekend, I feel rested and ready for Baby to make her appearance. My sleep has been much better the past few days, our house is clean, my hair is clean, our bed is made for labor and delivery. I am ready! Now, if only she would be ready…
How far along? 38 weeks… so you can come anytime, Little Girl.
Total weight gain? Between 21 and 22 pounds
Maternity clothes? Yes.
Stretch marks? Nothing so far.
Sleep: Although I’ve slept horribly throughout the bulk of this pregnancy, I’ve gotten several good nights of sleep in a row recently. I’m still waking up to use the bathroom throughout the night, but am easily able to fall asleep after each time that I wake.
Best moment this week: Spending Memorial Day at my sister and brother-in-law’s house. We had delicious food, a pool, and amazing company.
Miss anything? I miss being able to perform basic tasks (like rolling over in bed, shaving my legs, picking toys up off the floor) without extreme effort and discomfort, but overall, I’ve been very content this week. Maybe a bit hormonal and emotional, but content!
Movement: I am still feeling her move, although her movements have slowed down and feel very different than they have in the past. I hope this is a good sign that she has dropped.
Food cravings: Mexican food
Anything making you feel queasy or sick: Nope!
Labor signs: Lots of contractions. On Monday night I was having consistent, mild contractions lasting about 45 seconds each, and 8 minutes apart. But after a few hours they never progressed and eventually stopped altogether. Since then I’ve had a lot of Braxton Hicks, some nausea and diarrhea, and I’ve lost some, but not all, of my mucous plug.
Symptoms: Nothing other than what I’ve already mentioned, plus some acne on my face that is out of the ordinary.
Belly button in or out? Out.
Wedding ring on or off? On. I’ve experienced little to no swelling in my hands and feet during this pregnancy.
Happy or moody most of the time: A little moody, but extremely happy. Just getting a bit restless.
Looking forward to: My appointment with the midwife today.
What’s Going on with Baby:
- Is probably 7+ pounds by now. Crazy.
- Is fully cooked.
- Is practicing making fists and fetal breathing.
