First off, I’d like to announce that we have had second thoughts about this baby girl’s name, and have officially changed it. But just to be on the safe side, I will wait until she is born to announce the name on the blog… just in case we change our minds again once we finally lay eyes on her for the first time.
In other news…
I’ve officially transitioned from being “cute pregnant” to being “huge pregnant.” I never felt like I hit the “huge pregnant” stage with Bonnie, so this is a new feeling for me. I’m physically uncomfortable most of the time, but am feeling great otherwise. There is only a month left until Baby Girl is full-term, and as far as I’m concerned, she can come anytime after that! There are only three weeks until she will be allowed to be born at home once I go into labor. My midwife will not do a home birth if the baby is born prior to 36 weeks gestation.
Fun fact: I totally thought I was 34 weeks today, until I went back and reviewed last week’s pregnancy update post. So that was kind of a bummer. Time is flying in general, but in regards to being pregnant it is beginning to drag a little.
I am so, so excited to experience labor this time around. I am excited to be at home (literally, in my home,) and I am excited to be surrounded by family throughout the whole process.
How far along? 33 weeks
Total weight gain? 16 pounds as of my last appointment (which was a week ago), but I won’t have an updated number until my appointment next week. I’m absolutely positive I’ve gained this week, as I can tell by the way my clothes fit (or don’t fit!)
Maternity clothes? Yes.
Stretch marks? No, nothing. I check every morning, expecting to find something because my skin feels like it’s being pulled so tightly, but nothing so far!
Sleep: Better. I’m still waking up to use the bathroom at least every couple of hours, which is unfortunate, but my insomnia is gone… finally!
Best moment this week: Between Andrew’s job and his residency he is working between 60 and 70+ hours per week, but he got a day off at the end of the week and he, Bonnie, and I had a wonderful day and weekend together.
Miss anything? Nope! I am so happy to be back in the Nashville area, and near family. My heart is full and I’m enjoying this season of waiting for Baby to arrive.
Movement: She is so wiggly! I can’t get enough of it. I think that, once she is born, I might miss feeling all her kicks and flips in my belly!
Food cravings: Ice and ice cream. I am still munching on ice constantly throughout the day, which is probably super annoying to people around me, but my cravings for it are so intense.
Anything making you feel queasy or sick: No. I’ve felt better physically this week than I have in a long time.
Gender: A girl!
Labor signs: No. Nothing more than occasional Braxton Hicks.
Symptoms: Nothing new. My itchy skin is manageable as long as I moisturize it morning and evening, and put oatmeal and olive oil in my baths.
Belly button in or out? OUT.
Wedding ring on or off? Still on.
Happy or moody most of the time: So happy.
Looking forward to: Knocking some freezer meals out. I am ready to check those off my list.
What’s Going on with Baby:
- She is still gaining weight, and may weigh nearly 5 pounds now! She is around 18 inches long, and could grow another inch this week.
- I am passing antibodies to her as she continues to develop her own fetal immune system.
- Her skeleton is hardening, except for her skull. Her skull will stay malleable so that it can fit through the birth canal, etc.
- She keeps her eyes open now while she is awake.
- She starts to coordinate breathing with swallowing and sucking.
ALL of my spare time lately has gone into doing behind-the-scenes things for the office, which will be opening before we know it. So this little blogging space of mine has suffered recently, but there are different seasons for different things, and I know right now has to be a time when I buckle down and get as prepared for our opening as possible before Baby arrives.
