First off, for any of you who subscribe to the weekly newsletter, I am still having some technical issues, so it will not be going out AGAIN today. The issues are being addressed, so hopefully things will be back to normal by next week. So sorry that this has happened twice in a row!
Bible Time with Bonnie
Several days ago, I was bouncing from thrift store to thrift store and stumbled upon the coolest devotional book. It’s called Blessings Every Day: 365 Simple Devotions for the Very Young. Each day has a short piece of Scripture, some thoughts about the Scripture, and then a little rhyme to help remember what you’ve just learned.
I have been reading to her from this book every day since I found it, and as simple as they are, I am loving each and every one of the devotionals! It just goes to show you that Scripture really is God-breathed, relevant, and real, no matter how simply you put it!
In light of how worked up I was after our 37 week appointment on Tuesday, yesterday’s devotional was so fitting! A simple reminder that, when we go too long without time with our Savior and in His Word, we make room for fear and doubt to creep into our hearts, and steal the peace that is found in Christ alone.
I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.
When you’re really sleepy, nothing feels better than a nice little nap. Taking a rest in the middle of a busy day can make you feel so much better. Spending time with God can be like a little nap for your heart. Whether you’re talking with God or just enjoying the world He made, your heart gets filled up with God’s love. And you’re full of energy again!
Taking a nap gives me a fresh start.
Talking with God is a nap for my heart.
Okay… I will be the first to admit that the little rhyme is a bit cheesy, but I can really see how it would be an effective memory tool for a very young child! And can’t we all relate to those times when we go too long without quality time with our Savior, and begin to feel weary, overwhelmed, and exhausted?
