I’ve outgrown every bra I own. The belly panel on my favorite pair of maternity pants now irritates my skin so much that my whole stomach breaks out in a rash after I wear them (not sure if this is due more to allergies or pregnancy.) Speaking of my stomach, it is so rock hard, and the skin feels so tightly stretched, that it seems like a chore even to bend down, twist around, or roll over in bed.
All that to say I am really, really, really hoping Nora is ready to make her appearance before we reach the 40-week mark. I’m counting down the weeks until she is full-term… Five weeks to go!
How far along? 32 weeks
Total weight gain? Almost 16 pounds
Maternity clothes? Yes. Mixing and matching with some non-maternity tops that are a size larger than I would usually wear.
Stretch marks? Not yet.
Sleep: Still struggling with some insomnia, and Spring allergies have also made it difficult for me to sleep since I am so congested.
Best moment this week: This week was filled with good moments! The weather was pretty, so I got to play outside with Bonnie a lot. I could watch her play all day long. My sister and I went to the Southern Women’s Show, and I enjoyed spending the time with her. And on Saturday Bonnie and I went with my parents to a several-mile-long stretch of yard sales, where I found a pedestal table for Nora’s nursery, and some great outfits for both girls, along with some other small odds and ends, including a toddler baby carrier (a baby carrier for a toddler to wear and carry dolls/stuffed animals in.) I plan on giving this to Bonnie once she sees me wearing Nora. I paid only a quarter for it and it is in like-new condition!
Miss anything? I miss being able to roll over in bed without feeling like it’s a workout! Ha!
Movement: Still lots of movement, which I absolutely love.
Food cravings: I’m still munching on ice all day, every day. Now that it’s warm out I find myself wanting fruit smoothies.
Anything making you feel queasy or sick: Nope!
Gender: She’s a girl!
Labor signs: None. Occasional Braxton Hicks, but nothing more than that.
Symptoms: Itchy, itchy skin, and occasional constipation.
Belly button in or out? It hasn’t popped yet, but it’s completely flat.
Wedding ring on or off? On.
Happy or moody most of the time: Very happy, but very tired.
Looking forward to: Meeting Nora, and seeing Bonnie meet her for the first time. I have lots of nervous anticipation about this!
What’s Going on with Baby:
- She is 4 pounds, and about 19 inches long (although according to my midwife Nora is on the small side right now, probably weighing closer to 3 pounds, which is ironic since she feels HUGE.)
- She is enjoying swallowing, breathing, kicking, and sucking.
- More and more fat is accumulating on Nora, so she is becoming less see-through, and more opaque.
- She should soon begin settling into a head-down position.
32 Week Midwife Appointment Update:
While yesterday’s appointment was mostly uneventful, I’ll share some details anyway. Nora was on my right side, head down, and finally not sunny side up. That, however, means nothing since as I am typing this, only 8 hours after my appointment, she’s on my left side, with her butt sticking out just above my belly button. She’s moving constantly, so I’m never too concerned about her position during my appointments, since I know it will probably change soon!
Something I did find odd was that Nora measured nearly a full week behind. Since she’s been measuring several days ahead I was a little alarmed, but my midwife told me not to give it a second thought. Nora is very active, her heart rate is great, and the measurements can be a little arbitrary.
I will have two more appointments at my midwife’s office: May 3rd and May 18th. Effective May 25th, my midwife will be coming to my house weekly until Nora is born.
