First things first… A quick update on last week’s post:
My supply seems to be on the upswing, and Audrey seems no worse for the wear. I am having to remain very proactive though, and if I ever forget to take a supplement or use an oil, or skip a pump session, I end up regretting it.
Since it is not realistic for me to pump all throughout the day, in addition to nursing Audrey and tending to a two year old, I only pump at night, after the girls have gone to bed. I also take Fenugreek in the morning and evening. The single thing I’ve noticed that is making the biggest difference is using basil essential oil. I put it on a cotton ball, and then rub it up and down my spine. I’ve been doing this three times a day, and am convinced it is helping. I have also had a few cups of Mother’s Milk tea, but haven’t noticed that it helps much.
I’ve also eliminated dairy completely, because Audrey had been spitting up so much, she was seeming generally fussier than normal, and even having a difficult time with bowel movements. I can already tell that cutting out dairy is helping her, and feel terrible that it has taken me this long to catch onto her sensitivity.
Overall, we had a much more normal week this week, and a wonderful weekend. We went apple picking on Saturday and had an absolute blast. Bonnie’s apple picking outfit was a bit unconventional, but we all went with it, and I think she pulled it off quite well.
Sundays always throw the girls off schedule a little bit though, so we plan on laying low today to recover.
Our meal plan for the week is also pretty low-key, with a repeat meal or two from last week.
Monday: BBQ chicken stuffed sweet potato (some variation of this recipe) and roasted asparagus
Tuesday: Spaghetti with zucchini noodles (a weekly staple, because it is quick and easy, and we all like it)
Wednesday: A bag of pre-made kale salad (We go to church on Wednesday nights, so dinner tends to be a little rushed and unpredictable)
Thursday: Mediterranean quinoa salad (similar to this recipe) topped with grilled chicken
Friday: Grain free pumpkin pancakes and scrambled eggs (because I LOVE breakfast for dinner, and because now that it is September, pumpkins are everywhere!)
Saturday: Leftovers (By the end of the week we inevitably have a smattering of random leftovers to pick from! Plus, Andrew will be out of town, so it will just be the girls and me.)
Meal prep was nothing fancy either. I chopped some veggies, washed some fruit, grilled a lot of chicken, and made a big batch of quinoa, along with a big bowl of salad. I might whip up a batch of pumpkin protein bites (minus the vanilla protein powder, because yuck) if the girls will coordinate a nap today! And if I’m feeling really good I may use the leftover pumpkin to make a batch of pumpkin spice muffins to freeze for next week. Or to eat immediately. Whichever.
