It’s so hard to believe we are already 16 weeks pregnant… only 24 weeks to go! But I guess it’s a little soon to start counting down. I am trying not to wish this time away, and to embrace every part of it. I cannot wait to meet our little girl, but I know that the time between now and then is incredibly special and important.
How far along? 16 weeks
Total weight gain? Nearly 4 pounds according to our scale. I am disappointed that I’ve gained so much already… was hoping that after gaining so much during fertility treatments over the past year and a half I would gain slowly during pregnancy. I will have an official weigh-in at my doctor’s appointment tomorrow morning.
Maternity clothes? Not yet, but I am wearing LOTS of leggings. I also have a Tummy Sleeve on standby.
Stretch marks? No.
Sleep: Getting progressively more difficult to get and stay comfortable during the night, and I’m still waking up about three times throughout the night to use the bathroom.
Best moment this week: Watching Andrew put Bonnie’s crib together. (Notice I said “watching,” and not “helping.”)
Miss anything? Sleeping on my stomach. I noticed this week that it just isn’t so comfortable anymore, and I feel like I’m smooshing her when I stretch out on my tummy! (:
Movement: Not yet… waiting patiently!
Food cravings: Nothing specific this week.
Anything making you feel queasy or sick: Just the smell of raw meat, but that has been the case throughout the whole pregnancy
Showing? I say yes. Andrew says no.
Gender: She’s a GIRL!
Labor signs: No.
Symptoms: Low-back aches that come and go. They started out subtly, but have gotten progressively worse the past couple of days. My back feels best when I am moving around, but when I sit, stand, or lie down for any substantial amount of time, it becomes uncomfortable.
Belly button in or out? In.
Wedding ring on or off? On.
Happy or moody most of the time: So happy! I’m still exceptionally emotional, but I think some of that just boils down to my personality… as much as I’d like to blame it on pregnancy…
Looking forward to: Our doctor’s appointment tomorrow. This will be the first appointment Andrew will be able to come to since Bonnie’s first ultrasound at 7.5 weeks. And it will probably be one of the last appointments he is able to attend, since school starts up again next week.
What’s Going on with Baby:
- Bonnie is about 4.5 inches long, and weighs about 3.5 ounces… she is growing so quickly!
- She’s started growing toenails.
- Her heart is pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day.
- She can make facial expressions, which I think is so neat!
I did not walk as much as I would have liked to while we were traveling for Christmas. The weather was cold, and our schedule just did not permit a lot of walking. Once we got home, I resumed walking but I am still thrown off my normal routine since Andrew is out of school and home 24/7 for the next several days. Since we returned from Nashville I’ve walked an average of about three miles per day: some days more, some days less.
I expect the next several weeks to pass rather quickly. My parents are probably coming to visit next weekend. I’m going to Nashville for my sister’s bridal shower toward the end of the month. She is getting married on March 8th, and I plan on spending much of that week in Nashville as well. The week after her wedding Andrew has an entire week off from school before starting what will be his sixth quarter. Then we have a little lull in activities until the end of May, when Andrew’s brother is getting married out-of-state.
There are also several things I’d like to squeeze in before Bonnie gets here, and plenty of preparations that need to take place before her arrival. This is such an exciting time, and I don’t think a single minute has gone by since we found out we are pregnant that I have not felt incredibly happy, excited, and grateful.
