Just three weeks ago I committed to blogging twice per week. Here we are rounding the corner to the end of this week, and I’ve blogged zero times. Lame.
We’ve been busy with the mundane this week: teething baby, trips to the grandparents’ pool, splash pad play dates… You know, the usual summer stuff.
Three things have made this week better and more fulfilling for me than almost any week I can think of over the past year:
- I’ve spent about ten minutes in the evenings doing some stretching + yoga. It makes such a difference in the way my body feels, and makes it easier for me to fall asleep come bedtime.
- I spent one hour last night, after the girls were in bed, going grocery shopping with my mom. It was a really sweet time of fellowship, and I was able to grocery shop slowly, without being rushed by my children, who are amazing, but who are ticking time bombs when it comes to shopping.
- Bonnie’s screen time has been more limited than usual. Since having Audrey, I’d started letting her watch more TV than even I was comfortable with. We’ve reigned that in, and she’s just a happier kid overall.
And as a happy bonus, Chick-fil-A has brought back their peach milkshakes. I may have indulged in one this week, courtesy of my thoughtful hubby.
I’ve felt convicted this week to focus on the little moments, and the small victories. That has made all the difference in my overall attitude. And changing my attitude has really changed my week! I heard a song recently that said, “I’ve got Jesus. How could I want more?” I heard that song after grumbling to my husband about something really silly. It didn’t seem silly at the time, of course. But it does now. I’ve got Jesus. I’ve been restored. How could I possibly want more?
