Since moving into our rental house (hard to believe we have already been here almost nine months), we have done absolutely nothing to our spare bedrooms. Of course, we are hoping that one will be a nursery soon, but the other is used for guests, and for an office space for me. So far, the only guests we have had since being here are my parents. They love us, so as long as they have a bed to sleep on, they are good!
Until recently, the only thing in the guest room has been a bed and an old, ugly dresser from Goodwill. I bought the dresser when we lived in Nashville, and fully intended on redoing it, but wanted to wait until I had the perfect purpose for it.
Well, we finally have non-family coming to stay with us for a couple of days next month, and I hated the thought of shoving them into a spooky, hideous guest room. So finally, I had some motivation to fix up the old dresser. The project was easy, and overall, I am pleased with the end result.
Here is what the dresser looked like before its little makeover, in our Nashville house:
I also made the frame and banner hanging over the dresser, out of vintage fabric swatches I found at Goodwill. The huge bundle cost only $3, and I have already gotten so much use out of them… well worth the $3 spent!
