This post is late by a full week. I used to would say that is unlike me. But unfortunately, that seems to be like me these days.
Audrey is wonderful. Both girls are. They are so different, but both so amazing.
Audrey has not been an amazing sleeper. After trying everything I could think of (including making her cry it out) I ordered the “Baby Merlin’s Magic Sleepsuit.” Even after reading some great reviews on it, I was skeptical. But evidently I was more desperate than skeptical, because I ordered it anyway, and it has been a GAME-CHANGER. She puts herself to sleep, and she stays asleep. She went from waking up 3 and 4 times (or more) per night, to maybe waking up once. And she went from taking 30 minute naps to taking 90+ minute naps. I do not understand how it works, but it does! And Audrey and I are both getting more than a few hours of sleep each night. Thank you, God!!! After a full month of feeling like a complete zombie, I am finally beginning to feel like a human again.
Because Audrey’s naps have been so unpredictable (until very recently,) she isn’t yet on the tight schedule Bonnie was on by this age. We are getting there though!
- 6:00/6:30am- wake up
- 7am- nurse
- 8am- nap
- 10:00/10:30- nurse
- 11am- nap
- 1:00/1:30- nurse
- 4:00/4:30- nurse
- 6:00/6:30- bath/baby massage/ pajamas
- 6:30/7:00- nurse and BEDTIME
*** The 2:00 nap is the biggest nap of the day for both girls. It is Bonnie’s only nap, and she usually sleeps for 1.5-2 hours. Audrey usually sleeps for closer to 2 hours (since we got the magic sleepsuit!) This is the only time of day when the house is completely quiet, and it is a wonderful re-charge time for me! It has taken us 4 months to get both girls to nap at the same time during the day, and there are still days when it doesn’t happen, but we are getting more and more consistent all the time.
Audrey has such a sweet little laugh and voice. Her gurgles and coos melt my heart. She loves to watch her big sister. She loves baths and showers. She enjoys tummy time, and her jumper. She can roll from back to tummy and tummy to back, and she can roll both directions. She is aware of her feet and likes to look at them, but hasn’t started grabbing her toes yet.
At the end of most days, I feel worn out and spent. But there is no way I would rather spend the days than with my two sweet girls. In the midst of the messes and the sleepless nights, I feel so, so thankful.
