Not too long ago, my sister mentioned the idea of a “labor book.” She said she knew a gal who recently had a baby and she put together a book of encouraging scriptures to turn to during her birthing experience. This is not something I had ever thought about, but I really loved the idea!
Instead of creating a labor book, I think I’ve decided to make scripture cards using scrapbook paper and a printer, laminating them, and using those during labor. My hope is that these cards will help me stay focused on the task at hand, and to gain strength when I am at my weakest! (:
But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him.
Lord my God, You have done many things- Your wonderful works and Your plans for us; none can compare with You.
We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose.
Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine.”
For it was You who created my inward parts; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will praise You because I have been remarkably and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful, and I know that very well.
My bones were not hidden from you when I was made in secret, when I was formed in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw me when I was formless; all my days were written in Your book and planned before a single one of them began.
I chose you before I formed you in the womb; I set you apart before you were born.
For I know the plans I have for you. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans for hope and a future.
Every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights.
The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.
The Lord will give strength to His people; the Lord will bless His people with peace.
For God has not give us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7
Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
Fear , for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, ‘Fear not; I will help you.’
Come to Me all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the Eternal Rock.
Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward.
From the end of the earth I will cry to you, when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to The Rock that is higher than I.
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled. Neither let it be afraid.
He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be your rampart.
Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you.
The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, and He delivers them.
This list may grow between now and the time I finish the cards!
